UDN News – Uni-Pharma Launches Innovative CASTOMIZE Smart Thermoplastic Cast for Fracture Support

Following the successful market performance of Adept anti-adhesion solution (by Baxter Healthcare), Uni-Pharma (Stock Code: 6621) has once again captured industry attention by securing exclusive distribution rights to CASTOMIZE—a lightweight, breathable, and self-moldable cast developed in Singapore. The company obtained regulatory approval earlier this year and officially launched the product in Taiwan.

Focusing on clinical patient needs, Uni-Pharma Chairman Dr. Cheng Chen stated that CASTOMIZE utilizes advanced 4D printing technology and intelligent materials that are metal-free—allowing X-ray imaging without interference. Compared to similar products, its thermoplastic molding process is faster and more user-friendly, offering better contour fitting. The skin-contacting layer is made with antibacterial silver-ion soft materials, providing both cushioning and comfort.

CASTOMIZE’s ventilated grid structure is key to its superior breathability, making it particularly suitable for Taiwan’s hot and humid climate. The cast weighs only one-fourth of traditional plaster, significantly reducing the patient’s burden. Dr. Chen emphasized that the easy-to-use buckle system simplifies wearing and removal while minimizing disassembly risks. “We believe CASTOMIZE can offer patients a far more comfortable fracture recovery experience,” he said.

The innovation of CASTOMIZE was recently recognized with the 2025 APAC Insider Singapore Business Award, which honors advancements in technology, sustainability, and economic impact. The product’s technological innovation and quality have earned strong international praise.

CASTOMIZE is currently undergoing product demonstrations and clinical testing across hospitals and clinics throughout Taiwan. Initial physician feedback has been highly positive. Clinicians noted that wrist fractures often deter patients from using traditional resin casts due to concerns over lifestyle limitations. CASTOMIZE offers a wearable, customizable solution that can be remolded as swelling subsides—providing enhanced therapeutic flexibility and eliminating the need for additional casting procedures.

Orthopedic doctors involved in product trials noted its benefits particularly for elderly patients, who often suffer wrist fractures from falls. Given seniors’ more delicate and irritation-prone skin, CASTOMIZE’s lightweight design reduces strain, and its breathable construction helps minimize skin discomfort and itchiness.

Currently available in a wrist model, CASTOMIZE’s Singapore development team has begun R&D on ankle, elbow, and pediatric sizes, with official launches planned by the end of 2025—offering parents a smarter orthopedic option for their children.
