Uni Pharma enthusiastically donated 1,000 boxes of fecal occult blood test strips to reduce the risk of bowel cancer

2016 Intestinal Screening Survey: Up to 50% of the people have low willingness to be screened, convenience and speed are the key!

On July 28, 2016, the Taiwan Colorectal Cancer Friends Association held a press conference, inviting Wang Zhaoyuan, Chairman of the Taiwan Colorectal Cancer Patients’ Association and Vice President of Zhonghe Memorial Hospital Affiliated to Kaohsiung Medical University, and Wu Changjie, Director of the Department of Colorectal Surgery of the Third General Medical University, to give a keynote speech.

Vice President Wang Zhaoyuan reminded that colorectal cancer has a trend of M-type in recent years, and the analysis of cancer registration data in 2013 found that the incidence of colorectal cancer under the age of 20 was 2.1 times that of 10 years ago, and the incidence of colorectal cancer over 85 years old was 3.3 times that of 10 years ago, which is speculated to be related to factors such as more environmental toxins and the extension of average life expectancy. Regardless of age, the public is urged to be vigilant about colorectal cancer, and can usually use fecal occult blood test canisters or test strips for screening, in addition, once there is abnormal conditions such as difficulty in defecation, unclean solution, and bloody stool, they should also seek medical attention immediately.

Mr. Wu Changjie explained in detail how to detect colorectal cancer through subtle symptoms and the importance of fecal occult blood test.

In 2015, Uni Pharma was approved by the Food and Drug Administration to issue the “Huayu Fecal Blood Test Paper”, and provided 1,000 boxes to the Taiwan Colorectal Cancer Patient Association for free collection at this press conference, hoping to allow more people to detect the disease early and do further testing and treatment as soon as possible through a simpler, faster and more convenient home testing method.
